News culture One Piece Red… Cinemas should supervise previews before things get out of hand!
It is now a familiar fact in the news upon the release of the lowest Japanese animated movie in cinemas. After Jujutsu Kaisen 0 last spring, One Piece Film – RED suffered despite the abuses some onlookers caused during its previews. In the face of the inaction of the authorities responsible for overseeing these events, legitimate anger is rising among the masses. Movie theaters must act urgently… before the situation escalates.

One Piece Movie – Red: A reminder of the facts
On Sunday, August 7, 2022, several cinemas in France and Navarre organized first previews of One Piece Film – RED. Unfortunately What was supposed to be a company of fans in front of the fifteenth feature film in the saga imagined by Ichiro Oda quickly turned into a “circus.”, which is a qualification used by many unhappy spectators at the end of a session. To really realize just how rudeness and excesses have literally ruined the shows, here are an anthology that personally leaves me speechless. Throwing popcorn, shirtless spectators, running down aisles, gatherings in front of a giant screen, early shouting, etc. Nothing was spared for viewers who had to be patient or leave the cinema (see the video below recorded in Marseille).
However, it should be noted that the session was quieter than usual in the Grand Rex, with the rioters merely shouting a character appearance… which today is the least of the concerns encountered during these previews. In fact, another, more alarming phenomenon appeared in the city of Mérignac near Bordeaux. The screening of One Piece Film – RED was interrupted by disgruntled onlookers who sounded the fire alarm. the reason ? They just didn’t like the movie. The cinema in question had no choice but to compensate all spectators without exception, even from other cinemas, after cutting off the power and restarting everything.
So I just saw what a One Piece session looks like in Marseilles…so it became a custom to do something in a well-known animated movie….Tweet embed I found worse than the Grand Rex preview.. pic.twitter.com/45aNUoscVS

Previous Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Spider-Man: No Way Home
One Piece Film – Red previews are not isolated incidents. The cinematic releases of Spider-Man: No Way Home in December 2021 and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in March 2022 also paid the price for these excesses. without prompting the Darkrooms to prematurely end the conviction sessions. The Grand Rex was also reacting to the grumbling of legitimate spectators, whose moments were spoiled by a bunch of naughty people who rushed to act in the worst possible way. Then the famous Parisian hall took the floor (see below). It is time for words to be accompanied by action.
We are pleased that audiences are connected during the events and we are proud that our cinema, which is unique in its size and capacity, creates an exceptional atmosphere. But there is a difference between sharing joy and doing just about anything. – Grand Rex
The responsibility of cinemas in facing this flood
This type of behavior is endemic and a symptom of our time… Searching for pretentiousness, disinterest in others, etc. However, I like to believe that “the freedom of some ends where the freedom of others begins”, which is clearly not the case during some of the previews. The enjoyment of a handful of people destroys dozens, if not hundreds of fans. This lack of consideration for his neighbor as well as for the expected work should encourage cinemas to take drastic measures. The organizers must act quickly and put an end to this disturbing phenomenon as soon as possible, otherwise all their sessions will disappear every time a Japanese anime or Marvel movie is released.
The proverb quoted above expresses the idea that our actions should not encroach on the lives of others. We can sum it up in The Art of Living Together. Unfortunately, some fans of Japan and/or superheroes don’t (or no longer) think this way. Movie theaters should take over and oversee these events. This will include kicking out intruders, or even worse in the event of violence or proven damage. UGC, CGR, MK2, Pathé Gaumont as well as independent cinemas must interact and tackle them. To end on a positive note, progress on the One Piece Film – RED sessions in Grand Rex is encouraging, even if the problem persists.
